Obituary of Johnny Ford
We bid farewell to Johnny Ford, 64, who departed from this world on Friday, March 21, 2025. He was a beacon of love and kindness. Born in Lee County, Florida, he was the son of the late Johnny Ford Sr. and Edna Mills. He was raised by his grandparents, Mr. Vincent & Edna Ford. He was a graduate of Camden High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he worked in telecommunications as a Systems Control Specialist/Attendant. While in the military, Mr. Ford was awarded an Outstanding Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, and a Training Ribbon. After being honorably discharged from the military in 1983, he went to work as an Electrician/ Carpenter in the construction industry. Mr. Ford was known for his ability to fix anything and with a warm heart and a skilled hand he lended his talents to help friends and family. He also loved a good sci-fi or Marvel movie.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Byron Queenie (Natasha Nelson), Marvina Queenie, and Marie Ford; 1 aunt, Edna-Ford-Roberts; 3 uncles, James Ford, Willie Ford whom he affectionately referred to as Will, and Andrew Ford; 1 niece, Dominique Queenie; 2 special nieces, Theresa Sule and Anaya Sule; 2 nephews, Devante Brown and
Di'jier Dai'jon Queenie, 2 special nephews, Jahi Sule and Najeem Sule; 1 great nephew, Darien Dalyrmple, 1 special great-neice, Amara Adams; and countless friends and family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
He is predeceased by his brother, Wilson G Thomas; his parents, Edna Mills and Johnny Ford Sr.; his uncle, Samuel Ford whom he also loved like a father, and his grandparents, Edna Nelson Ford and Vincent Ford Sr.
We invite all who cherish his memory to join us at the funeral service will be held on April 7, 2025, at 12 PM at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC with burial to follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC at 2 PM. The family will be holding a viewing at 11am which is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Reverend Millie Nelson Smith will be officiating.
