Mrs. Morton passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025. Born in Oakboro, NC, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Poplin. A Littleton Street United Methodist Church member, Julia served her community with grace and compassion.
Professionally, she thrived as a bookkeeper and accountant for various automobile dealerships, where her meticulous nature shone. Beyond her work, Julia cherished her passions for reading and gardening, but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jimmy P. Morton, with whom she shared 64 cherished years; her daughter, Melony Dingle of Mayesville; her brother, James “Jim” Poplin of N.C.; grandchildren Will Dingle (Brittany), Julia Robinson (Greg), and Jayne Dingle (Casey); and two adored great-grandchildren.
