Charles Everett Hayes, Jr. Obituary

Charles “Eddie” Everett Hayes, Jr., 75, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Camden, SC, on November 1, 1949 he was the son of the late Charles E. Hayes, Sr. and the late Ophelia Dixon Hayes. He married the love of his life, Ms. Zinda Pate Hayes, in 1971, in Camden, SC. Mr. Hayes was an airman in the United States Air Force for four years. He was employed with DuPont for 8 years before working for Ambac International in his later years. Mr. Hayes was a member of the American Legion Post 17 in Camden, SC and was an Eagle Scout. He was a Carolina Gamecocks fan and loved a good steak. But above all else, what he enjoyed most was being with his family and loving grandchildren.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kristie Lee Williams (Lee) and Chad David Hayes (Denee); sisters, Brenda Broadway (Howard) and Debra Smith (Jimmy); brother, Michael Hayes (Ann); and grandchildren, Madison Lee Williams, Caylee Dylan Hayes, Reece Lee Williams and Chloe Della Hayes.


A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Malvern Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Camden, SC. Rev. Craig Thompson and Rev. Buster Morris will be officiating.
