Obituary of Christopher L. Sturkie

Rembert – Funeral service for Christopher Legrande Sturkie, 16, will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff.  The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Chris passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.  Born in Florence, S.C., he was the son of Franklin Samuel Sturkie Jr. and Doris Evelyn Matthews Sturkie.  He was a Junior at Camden High School where he was the Command Sergeant Major in the JROTC. 

Surviving are his parents, Frank and Evelyn Sturkie of Rembert; brother, Kayden Sturkie; sister, Samantha Sturkie; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Sturkie (Carl); maternal grandmother, Kim Matthews (Vern); and aunt, Amanda Sturkie Jackson.  He was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Frank Sturkie, Sr.; and maternal grandfather, Colie Matthews.
