Obituary of Judy Ann Showers

Judy Ann Showers, 76, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at the Medical University of South Carolina, after a very brief battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great friend to many.

Judy was born on September 22, 1948, in Lewisburg, PA. She was the daughter of the late George Henry and Carrie Isabel (Johnson) Bastian. She graduated from Milton High School in Milton, PA, in 1966 and married the love of her life, “Jerry” Gerald Raymond Showers, Sr., on September 4, 1966.

Throughout her life, Judy worked in the office at the Warrior Run School District; a station account manager for over 20 years at WMLP/WVLY radio station in Lewisburg, PA; and at CSIU in Montandon, PA, until retirement. She loved to volunteer and always had her hands in something. She was involved in countless radio station events, the Milton Harvest Festival, Panther Cub Football, Milton Little League, Girl Scouts, the American Cancer Society, booster clubs, various card clubs, and much, much more. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Milton, PA, and stayed very involved in the Milton Moose Lodge, where she spent the majority of her weekends with friends.

After retirement, Judy and Jerry sold their house, bought a motorhome, and enjoyed being snowbirds in Florida every winter. She loved to camp, play bingo and online games, watch NASCAR and football games (especially her Dallas Cowboys), and spend time with her friends old and new. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family who adored her. Judy was not only a mom and grandma, she was a best friend, a mentor, and a true hero. Her life was full of love and laughter, and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 58 years, Jerry; son “Jerry” Gerald Showers, Jr., (Marie) of Columbia, SC; daughter Michelle Taylor (Chris) of Brogue, PA; brother George H. Bastian, Jr. (Doreen) of Branford, CT; sister Dorothy Rodgers (Danny) of Union, SC; five grandchildren:  McKennzee Tramill (William) and Morgan Anderson (Ryan) of Lugoff, SC; Kaitlyn Diaz (Jeremy) of Dover, PA; Austin Hopple of Inwood, WV; and four great-grandchildren:  Cooper Workman, Darla Tramill, and Elliot Tramill, all of Lugoff, SC; and Baby Diaz, Dover, PA, who is arriving in June 2025. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless truly special friends who meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Hoffman, and her beloved fur baby, Katie.

A celebration of life for Judy will be held at a later date in Milton, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org or by mailing contributions to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD, 21741.
