LUGOFF - Funeral service for Herbert William Aldrich, Sr., 84, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Harvest Baptist Church with burial to follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Harvest Baptist Church or Palmetto Health Heart Hospital. Mr. Aldrich died Saturday, September 01, 2007. Born in Lugoff, he was a son of the late James Douglas and Maebelle Kelly Aldrich. He served in the United States Army during WW II and also served in the United States Navy Reserves. He was a Barber for fifty-three years and enjoyed raising cows and farmed to provide for his family. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Ruby Christine Aldrich; children, Herbert W. Aldrich, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert W. Aldrich and his wife, Sadie of Camden, N. Robin Aldrich of Columbia, Cynthia Shannon and her husband, Jerry of Sylvania, Ga., and Dona LeGrand and her husband, Joel of Columbia; brothers, Newman Aldrich and his wife, Juanita of Lugoff, and Ed Aldrich of Cayce; sisters, Betty Tucker of West Columbia, and Margaret Peace of Lexington; aunt, Bernice Riddick of Columbia; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy A. Aldrich.
