Mr. Branham, affectionately known as “Gigi” to his family and “Bossman” to his co-workers passed away on February 15, 2010. He will be greatly missed. He was the son of the late Tillman and Olive Gladden Branham. Born October 18th, 1927, he was a graduate of Blaney High School in 1945. After high school, he left to serve in the US Navy in San Diego. After two years he had the calling to return home to help his mother and father at their family farm. Floyd was a hard worker. As a young man he swept out school buses for a nickel each week, raised chickens for sale, and collected minnows for nearby fisherman. He kept his promise to help his father and mother to be an honest and hard working son. He worked in real estate and retired from Southern Bell with 35 years of service. His first and foremost calling was his family. Floyd enjoyed working with family at the farm in his hayfields, raising cattle, and overseeing his properties. He was never a stranger to anyone. His friends at Campbell’s Grocery, the BP at Rabon’s Crossroads, and all in Elgin will miss him greatly. Floyd would want to be remembered as a friend to all and a loyal brother to his kindred. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jacqueline Finnell Branham, sons, Timothy Floyd and wife, Susan, Ira Dale and his wife, Kim, (their mother, Sybil Albert), Jody Styron, and Timothy Floyd II; and daughter, Stacey Nicole and her husband, Jeremy Yates. He has eleven grandchildren, Christi (Michael), Mac, Jennifer, Mette (Michael), Daniel, Alexa, Scout, Sawyer, Katelyn, Cole, and Issabella. Two great grand children Robert and Matthew . Floyd’s surviving brothers and sisters are Oscar (Violet) Branham, Lois (Michael) Carns, Richard (Sivas) Branham and Mary (Paul) Corley. He was predeceased by a son, Rodney Floyd and his brothers, Marvin and Clyde Branham, and sisters Effie Baliotis, Dorothy Branham, and Nora Keith. The family recognizes Floyd’s surviving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also remembered by his beloved Chihuahua “Mini”. The family would like to express their gratitude to all who have been with them during this difficult time and to the doctors, nurses, and Hospice staff (Med 2) of Kershaw County Memorial Hospital.
