ELGIN - Service for Joan R. Franz, 78, will be private. Memorials may be made to Greyhound Rescue and Rehab, P.O. Box 572, Crossriver, NY 10518. Mrs. Franz died Thursday, February 11, 2010. Born in Patterson, N.J., she was a daughter of the late John Michael and Rosalie Jackson Zachara. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Croton Falls, N.Y. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, floral designing, and was an avid football fan especially the New York Giants. Surviving are her son, Roger W. Franz, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter, Joan M. James and her husband, Bradley of Elgin; and grandchildren, Tristan R. Franz and Shauna Leigh Franz. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis Zachara.
