Obituary of James Woodrow Dixon
CAMDEN-Funeral service James Woodrow Dixon, Sr, 83, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Hermitage Baptist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Rev. Dr. Condy Richardson and Rev. Johnny Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to Hermitage Baptist Church, Arise and Build, 814 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Camden, S.C. 29020.
Mr. Dixon died Monday, December 14, 2009. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Mary Jane “Lizzie” Twitty Dixon. He served in the United States Army during WW II. He retired from Hermitage, Inc after 50 years where he was a supervisor.
Mr. Dixon was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Bass Dixon; son, James Woodrow Dixon, II and his wife, Teresa Peters Dixon of Elgin; brothers, William Dixon and his wife Mary of Camden, and L.J. Dixon and his wife, Addie of Hartsville; and sister, Peggy Eddings of Dalzell. He was predeceased by brothers, Mendel, Cletus, Joe Roger, Bonnie and Robert Dixon; and a sister Rena Mae Branham.
