LUGOFF - Funeral service for John David “Skippy” Midgett, 66, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral home. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kershaw County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs, 1619 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Camden, S.C. 29020 or Wateree Wild Cats Fast Pitch Softball, c/o Mike Rawl 1095 Quail Lane, Lugoff, S.C. 29078 Mr. Midgett died Saturday, October 10, 2009. Born in Morehead City, N.C., he was a son of the late Andrew P. and Irene Willis Midgett. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Praxair in 2004 after 27 years. He was an avid Shagger and a member of the Camden Lugoff Area Shag Society (CLASS). He enjoyed offshore fishing, hunting and NASCAR. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Judie B. Midgett; daughters, Cindy Marshall of Tampa, Fla., Julie Salanis of Goldsboro, N.C., Christine Lester and her husband, Larry of York, S.C., and Amanda Shipley of Lugoff; brother, Andrew Midgett and his wife, Norma of Morehead City, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty Jo Bailey and Ginger Yeager.
