COLUMBIA-In sure and certain hope of resurrection, Charlotte Cole Flessas, 86, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina. Charlotte was born February 3, 1932 in Lowndesville, South Carolina to Emma Alice Sutherland Cole and Clemson Calhoun Cole. She is survived by two sons, Michael Flessas and Rev. Daniel (Deena) Flessas. She adored her three grandchildren, Sam, Ben, and Madeleine.
Charlotte was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church. Late in life, she grew to love reading the Bible, discovering the love of God anew and finding comfort in God’s promises. She made a life of serving people who got by paycheck-to-paycheck. She was particularly good with numbers.

The family is grateful to God for Melissa and Chuck Newton, who worked tirelessly to extend Charlotte’s life, assisting her in various ways for more than a decade. The family also is grateful for Shandon United Methodist Church, the pastoral care of Hibben United Methodist Church senior pastor Dr. Ray Litts, and hospital staff and others who faithfully cared for her.
A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Shandon United Methodist Church in Columbia. The Reverend Carly Wicklund will officiate. Come to hear and sing words of grace. The family will receive friends and others who desire to extend a blessing at 1:00 p.m., before the service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
