BLYTHEWOOD - Linda Creech Peake, 69, born in Blythewood, SC, August 3, 1946, the daughter of Frances Jeffares Creech and James Robert Creech, left this life on July 24, 2016, after a year-long battle with triple-negative breast cancer, which she fought with dignity and grace. Linda was deeply involved in her church and community. She taught Sunday school for over 40 years at Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was the longest-attending member. She was active in the Woman to Woman ministry and the United Women’s Circle, from which she was awarded the Woman of the Year in 2015.
Linda served as Mayor of Blythewood and on the Blythewood Town Council, the Planning Commission, and was a founding member of the Blythewood Historical Society. She volunteered for ten years at the Cooperative Ministry and Christian Assistant Bridge. Many other organizations benefited from her selflessness.
Linda was a born hostess and entertainer who loved to garden, cook, decorate and gather with loved ones. Most notably she had a spirit of generosity and consideration for others that made everyone around her feel loved and welcomed. Her family and harvest of close friends will continue to be inspired by her example of loyalty and true friendship.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26 from 6-8pm at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff. Memorial services will take place Wednesday, July 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood at 1 pm. Interment will follow at the Centerville Cemetery in Ridgeway, SC.
Her spirit is carried on by her husband, Richard Wallace Peake; four children, Judson Taylor Maurer, Catherine Maurer Munroe, Crystal Price, Shawn Peake; two sisters, Bonnie Martin and Margaret DuBard; eight grandchildren: Sage, Mallorie, Dalton, Easton, London, Braelyn, Huntley, Cayden; and six nieces and nephews. She was beloved by all and will be truly missed.
